And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
This Fall we are studying Biblical characters with Legendary Faith! Abel and Enoch (check sermons here), with Noah on slate for this Sunday. Very inspiring and VERY challenging for someone as normal as me. Legendary and normal aren't synonyms.
They even feel different to say. One is exciting: LEGENDARY! Add it to anything and I can't wait to do it. Legendary chores! Normal deflates. It sounds lame. It has the name "Norm" in it (Sorry, Norm). Normal is so........normal.
As I study these characters, I realize just how normal they were. Abel had one shining moment. One! Enoch walked with God and had a family. Normal as could be. But they lived "by faith" and the God they served was anything but normal!
Who is actually legendary? Noah? Abraham? Moses? Granted they had some legendary moments but they were ALL when they trusted a Legendary God and did what He said! God is LEGENDARY and, just like them, my only hope of legendary is walking with Him and obeying His call! When I do that, no matter how normal I feel or my day seems, I am sharing in a little bit of God's legendary nature!
So let's make Legendary normal! Not by being legendary, in and of ourselves, but by seeing God as legendary, walking with and serving Him then maybe a little legendary will rub off on us.
